About the artists

"I am driven by my need to create. It is what gets me up in the morning. I find inspiration in the eerie and whimsical. I have often felt misunderstood in my own life, and it is in those misunderstood subjects I find my muse. In my work I play around with high contrast creating light with negative space and deep shadows with heat and fire. My completed pieces are often the stuff of dreams or nightmares depending on the observer's perspective. While my art may be "playful" it does come from a place within me that I have been learning to nurture and grow. A part of me I felt compelled to suppress in my younger years. By creating such pieces, I am growing to embrace and love my whole self and it does feel like a part of me is coming back to life. That is what you are really seeing when you look at my work. It is my hope that by sharing my art that others will find a kindred misunderstood spirit and feel seen or that they will just enjoy the whimsy for what it is."
Stephanie is a pyrographer. She has been wood burning for about 8 years. She is well practiced with all kinds of mediums, but it wasn't until about 2 years ago she decided to put those other mediums aside and really put her focus and growth into wood burning. It started off small with Christmas ornaments for friends and family. Then inspiration called and she started to challenge herself with bigger ideas and projects. Most recently she has been testing her abilities in realism through portraits.

"I don't remember a time in my life where I wasn't creating art. Every spare minute I can find is used to create. Art is a form of therapy for me. I currently live in North Dakota, and my creative processes are rooted in the intricate techniques of pyrography and macrame. My art tends to change with my moods, the seasons, and possibly the moon phases. My sense of style is very eclectic, I could never be described as ordinary, and my art reflects that. I love to explore different techniques and blend different mediums to form beautiful pieces. My pieces often portray my love of nature with whimsical, authentic charm, inviting my viewers into a world of organic, botanical themes. I am inspired by waving grasslands, sunsets, herbs, intricate leaf patterns and mushroom. My hope is that my art brings as much joy to the viewers as it does to me while making it."
Jess is a pyrographer and macrame artist. She has many different artistic interests including painting, crochet, knitting, sewing, and jewelry making. Macrame became a love of hers about 6 years ago while making a plant hanger from a magazine article. She has been developing her macrame art by learning new knotting techniques and exploring different types of fibers. She's had experience working with pyrography in her past but it wasn't until her friend and now business partner, Stephanie, inspired her to pick it up again that it has ignited a huge passion in her. She currently works full time in education, but you can find her creating every spare minute she has.
